The Elliptical Rubbing Fatigue
Most triple-offset valves (TOV) rely on an elliptical seat. This creates friction during the final degrees of closure, literally "rubbing" the seal away. -
Thermal Seizing & "Ghost" Leaks
In LNG or high-heat service, metals expand and contract. Without a self-energized sealing strategy, standard valves either seize or lose their seal as the body "breathes." -
High-Velocity Erosive Scouring
Wet steam or entrained solids act like liquid sandpaper. Once a standard graphite seal is scored, the media begins "wire-drawing" through the seat, making a bubble-tight shutoff impossible. -
The Shaft Deflection Crisis
Under Class 900# or 1500# pressure, discs can "bow" slightly. This microscopic deflection pulls the seal out of alignment, causing packing leaks and seat failures.
