Company Background
Tim Pieper purchased Tri-State Controls in 1992 and renamed it Tristate Valves & Controls, better known by the acronym, TRIVACO. At the time, our main focus was to provide severe service valves to the Power and Paper industries.
Evolution
By 1995, we had opened up new markets, Coal Prep being the largest. Our focus was still severe service valves, but new product lines emerged: Pneumatic and Electric Actuators, Air Heaters and Slurry Valves became prominent in our overall success. We built a new 12,000 square foot facility to accommodate the growth.

Future
Field service, field installations and turnkey programs have now entered the arena. Customers are demanding these services and we have grown and staffed to accommodate these needs. We envision these services becoming a very substantial portion of our overall portfolio. We intend to remain a privately owned regional specialty valve, instrumentation and equipment supplier. We want to expand our capabilities to service our customers’ needs for the products and services we offer. Current markets served:
- Power Generation (fossil and hydro)
- Pulp & Paper
- Coal Preparation
- Steel & Aluminum
- Chemical Process & Refineries
- Tank Farms
- Pharmaceutical
- Oil and Gas Transmission
- Municipal Water and Waste Water Treatment
- Food & Beverage
Growth
By 1997, we added coverage for the Process, Municipal and Gas Transmission markets. We added 24,000 square feet of warehousing and manufacturing space to accommodate a complete in-house fabrication, machining and assembly shop known internally as TRIVACO Manufacturing Services. We added engineers, designers, machinists and fabricators so we could better serve our customers’ automation needs. Dampers and Damper Drives have been added to our product offering.
In 2004, we started TRIVACO Fiberglass Systems (TFS) to support the growing Flue Gas Desulphurization markets. TFS is a wholly integrated fiberglass pipe, structural and grating fabrication shop.
TFS combines engineering expertise with an understanding of fiberglass applications. All of our products come from top-quality, front-line US manufacturers including Smith Fibercast and Fibergrate.
In 2008, TRIVACO purchased TSV, a safety valve repair shop, located in Indianapolis, IN. Our shop in Indianapolis is certified with the National Board and holds the following code stamps: VR, UV, V and NB. We are also an “Authorized Factory Assembler” for Kunkle and we offer ASME repairs of Kunkle valves and other manufacturers through the “VR” program.
In 2010, TRIVACO acquired Alpha Controls. This acquisition has given us a complete line of instrumentation and controls, which enables TRIVACO to provide our customers complete turnkey valve, automation and instrumentation solutions.
TRIVACO serves industrial markets in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida, with our corporate office being in Hebron, Kentucky. Please view our complete contact information.
TSV offers years of experience in the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional industries as mechanical specialty sales engineers and application engineering.
Please call to discuss new or existing applications for Safety Relief Valves for your plant-wide needs.
TSV Service & Sales
TSV Service & Sales, a Division of TRIVACO, is the ” Factory Authorized Assembler” of Kunkle Relief Valves for Indiana and western Kentucky. They carry a local inventory and provide Kunkle Safety Valves to industrial distributors/customers. As the “Authorized Factory Assembler” for Kunkle, they offer ASME repairs of Kunkle valves and other manufacturers’ valves through the “VR” program. Kunkle valves have the V, UV and NB symbols on the nameplate to assure that they have been assembled under the requirements of the ASME and The National Board.
A TSV representative is available to perform a survey of safety valves in your plant. This allows them to identify any relief valve installation problems and check to see if the valves are suitable for the particular application or service.
Alpha Controls
After 30 years of providing sales and services to the Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky areas, Alpha Controls, Inc., was acquired by TRIVACO in April, 2010. Alpha Controls became the instrumentation division operating at the Loveland, Ohio headquarters of TRIVACO.
The Alpha Controls division has experience with applications in the Power, Pulp/Paper, Chemical, Metals, and Food/Pharmaceutical industries. They also work closely with OEM’s. Their capabilities cover all aspects of the customer’s operation from field instruments to the control room.
The Alpha team consists of a variety of engineering backgrounds: Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical. For instrumentation, automation and control needs, please contact TRIVACO’s Alpha Controls division.
